Senator KEATING asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   Under what terms are the special trains for conveying English inward mails from Adelaide to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane run?

2.   And, in particular, are such special trains run. in connexion with every incoming English mail; and, if not, on what occasions or in what circumstances are they run to each of the three eastern capitals named?

3.   What is the cost in each case of such trains, and by whom is the same borne?

4.   Are passengers always allowed to travel by such trains without special permit?

5.   If special permit is necessary in any cases, what are such cases, and to whom must application for such special permit be made, and how long before departure of special train ?
