Mr Calder asked the Prime Minister, upon notice:

(1)   Is it a fact that electors in the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory will not be entitled to vote in the referendum proposed for 8 December 1973.

(2)   If so, what action is proposed by the Government to rectify this situation in respect of future referenda.

Mr Whitlam - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Yes.

(2)   I refer the honourable member to my second reading speech on the Constitution Alteration (Mode of altering the Constitution) Bill 1974 (Hansard 15 November 1973, pp. 3398-3400).
