Mr Duthie (WILMOT, TASMANIA) asked the Prime Minister, upon notice:

(1)   What Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, on leaving the Parliament, have been appointed to Government positions at home and abroad during the period 1949 to 1972.

(2)   What was (a) the position or office, (b) the remuneration or salary, (c) the Party affiliation of the appointee and (d) the length of the term served in each case.

Mr Whitlam - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   and (2) There is no list of such appointments to whichI can readily refer the honourable member.

It is general knowledge however that there were many former Senators and Members who, on leaving the Parliament during the period 1949-1972, were appointed to Government positions in Australia and overseas by former Liberal Country Party Governments. To mention but a few from immediate recollection:
