Mr Fulton (LEICHHARDT, QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister for Northern Development, upon notice:

(1)   What are the names of the northern water conservation projects submitted by the Queensland Government to the Commonwealth for financial assistance in the last 5 years.

(2)   What are the names, and relevant dates, of those Queensland water projects for which a Commonwealth evaluation analysis has been (a) started and (b) completed.

(3)   What Commonwealth evaluation reports are available for the above projects and when will they be published or made available to members of Parliament


Dr Patterson - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   The following northern water conservation projects have been submitted by the Queensland Government to the Federal Government within the last five years for consideration for financial assistance.

 

(2)   (a) Projects for which detailed evaluation analyses have been started and completed:

North Eton Irrigation Project - studies commenced January 1973 - completed June 1973

Lower Dawson Weirs - studies commenced May 1972- completed July 1973.

(b)   Detailed economic evaluation studies have not been undertaken on any of the other projects.

(3)   Australian Government evaluation reports are not yet available for the projects mentioned in 2(a). They will be published in the near future but, at present, there is no firm indication as to the probable date of publication.
