Mr Garland asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice:

(1)   How much aid, and in what specific categories, has been promised to North Vietnam.

(2)   Over what period is it expected that it will be paid.

(3)   Is all or some of the aid dependent on whether the Government of North Vietnam substantially carries out its promises under the cease fire agreement

Mr Whitlam - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows: (1), (2) and (3) No aid commitment has been made to North Vietnam. Assistance for humanitarian purposes is under consideration.
