1. M eeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m„ pursuant to adjournment.—The Deputy-President (Senator T. C. Drake-Brockman) took the Chair.

4. Commonwealth A ssistance in Provision of Science T eaching F acilities in Secondary Schools— M inisterial Statement.—The Minister for Works (Senator Gorton), by leave, made a statement relating to the progress of the scheme to assist secondary schools by the provision of science teaching facilities.

5. Papers.—Senator Cormack presented the following Paper, by leave— United Nations—Report by Senators Ridley and Cormack, Senate Observers and alternate Delegates to the Twentieth Session of the General Assembly, 1965. The following Papers were presented, pursuant to Statute—

Apple and Pear Organization Act—Twentieth Annual Report of the Australian Apple and Pear Board, for year 1965-66. Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies Act—Second Annual Report of the Council of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies, together with financial statements and the Auditor-

General’s Report thereon, for year 1965-66. Broadcasting and Television Act—Thirty-fourth Annual Report of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, together with financial statement, for year 1965-66. Commonwealth Banks Act—Appointments—D. F. Aislabie, H. J. Nichols. Commonwealth Serum Laboratories Act—Fifth Annual Report of the Commonwealth Serum

Laboratories Commission, together with financial accounts and the Auditor-General's Report thereon, for year 1965-66. Egg Export Control Act—Interim Report of Australian Egg Board, for year 1965-66. Gold Mines Development Assistance Act—Fourth Annual Statement by the Minister on the opera­

tion of the Act and the payment of development allowance, for year 1965-66. Gold-Mining Industry Assistance Act—Twelfth Annual Statement by the Minister on the operation of the Act and the payment of subsidy, for year 1965-66. Homes Savings Grant Act—Second Annual Report of the Secretary, Department of Housing, on

the administration and operation of the Act, for year 1965-66. Seat of Government (Administration) Act—Regulations—1966—No. 10 (Adoption of Children Ordinance).

6. F oreign A ffairs—M inisterial Statement, A ugust, 1966—P aper.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion by the Minister for Works (Senator Gorton), viz.—That the Senate take note of the Paper. Debate resumed. Senator O’Byrne addressing the Chair—
