1. Meeting of Senate.·—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The Deputy President (Senator G. J. Rankin) took the Chair. ·
2. PRAYERS.
3. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.
4. Motion for Adjournment, to D ebate Matter of Urgency.—The Deputy President announced that he had received from,Senator Guy a.statement of his intention to move—That the Senate, at its rising, adjourn till to-morrow at ten a.m., for the purpose of debating a matter of urgency, viz.— ‘.‘ the continued failure of the Government to allow time for the consideration ,of private members’ business, notwithstanding the fact that a regular time for. its consideration has; been allotted by
Sessional Order ” . ....................'
And four Senators having risen in their plages ,r s indicating their approval of the moving, of the .motion;— Point of Order.—The Minister !for Yrade..and Customs (Senator Q’SriUi-yiaii).- was not in order because it anticipated another motion of which Notice appeared on'the Notice Paper. .............
Debate ensued on the point of order. Ruling of Deputy. President —The Deputy President ruled that the proposed .motion would, not be in order, as it was contrary to Standing Orders 125 and 419.

Question—put and passed. On the motion of the Attorney-General (Senator Spicer) the Bill was read a first time. Senator Spicer moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate ensued. '
Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into Committee for the consideration of the Bill.
In the Committee.
Bill, by leave, taken as a whole, and agreed to. Bill to be reported without amendment.
The Deputy President resumed the Chair; and the Temporary Chairman of Committees (Senator Reid) reported accordingly. On the motion of Senator Spicer the Report from the Committee was adopted, and the Bill read a third time.
