]. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The President (Senator the Honorable Gordon Brown) took the Chair.

3. Governor-General’s Message—Assent to Bills.—The following Message from Ilis Excellency the Governor-General was presented, and the same was read by -the President:— W. J. McKELL. Governor-General. Message No. 6.
Proposed Laws intituled :— “ War Pensions Appropriation Act 1950 ” “ Supply Act (No. 2) 1950-51 ” “ Supply (Works and Services) Act (No. 2) 1950-51 ” as finally passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth, having been presented to the Governor-General for the Royal Assent, His Excellency has, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty, assented to the said Laws.
Government House, Canberra, 30th October, 1950.
4. Question.—A Question on notice was answered.
5. Papers.—The following Papers were presented, pursuant to S tatute— Lands Acquisition Act—Land acquired for Postal purposes at D ana, Queensland. - Science and Industry Endowment Act—Report by Auditor-General on the accounts of the Science and Industry Endowment Fund, for year 1949 -50.
6. Constitution Alteration (Avoidance of Double Dissolution Deadlocks) Bill 1950—Select Committee.—The Order of the Day having been read for bringing up the Report of the Select Committee—Senator McKenna moved—That the time for ‘bringing up the Report be extended for a period of four wrecks from this day. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed.
7. Constitution Alteration (Prices) Bill 1950.—Order of the'D ay read for the adjourned debate on the Question—That the Bill be now· read a second time. Debate resumed. Senator Sheehan moved—That Senator Ryan be granted an extension of time for thirty minutes.
