1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The President (Senator the Honorable Gordon Brown) took the Chair.

Produce Board, for year 1949-50. .
5. Order of Business—Suspension of Standing and Sessional Orders moved.^-The Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator O’Sullivan) moved—That so much of the Standing and Sessional Orders be suspended as would prevent the resumption of the debate upon Government Business, Order of the Day No. 1 (Communist Party Dissolution Bill) being made an Order of the Day for a later hour this day, namely 2.15 p.m. Debate ensued. Point of Order.—At 2.15 p.m., debate still proceeding, Senator O’Sullivan drew attention to the fact
that the time named in the motion having passed, the motion had ceased to be an effective motion. Ruling of President.—The President upheld the point and ruled that the motion was now out of order. 6. Australian Prisoners-of-War—Subsistence Allowance—P aper.—The Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator O’Sullivan), by Command of His Excellency the Governor-General, laid upon the
Table the following Paper— Report of Committee appointed to investigate Question of payment of Special Subsistence Allowance to Australian Prisoners-of-War 1939-45 War— and, by leave, made a statement relating thereto. Senator McKenna moved—That the Paper be printed.
Question—put and passed.
7. Commonwealth B ank Bill 1950 [No. 2],—Message from the House of Representatives.—The following Message from the House of Representatives was received and read :—

The House of Representatives transmits to the Senate a Bill intituled “ A Bill for an Act to repeal the Banking Act. 1947-1948 and to amend the Commonwealth Bank Act 1945-1948 ”, in which it desires the concurrence of the Senate. C. F. Adermann,
