1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The President (Senator the Honorable Gordon Brown) took the Chair.
2. PRAYERS. '
3. Question.—A question on notice was answered.
4. P apers.—The following Papers were presented, pursuant to Statute— Commonwealth Public Service Act—Appointments—Department-— Repatriation—W. P. Whiting. . Social Services—Î. M. Kelly.
5. Social Services Consolidation Bill I960.—Message from the House of Representatives.—The following Message from the House of Representatives was received and read :— Mr. P resident, Message No. 5.
The House of Representatives returns to the Senate the Bill intituled “ A Bill for an Act ' to amend the provisions of the ' Social Services Consolidation Act 1947-1949 ’ relating to Child Endowment ”, and acquaints the Senate that it has agreed to the Bill with the Amendments indicated by the annexed Schedule, in which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.

7. R egulations and Ordinances Committee—Seventh Report.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion by Senator Tate, viz.—That the Seventh Report from the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances, presented to the Senate on 26th October, 1949, be adopted.
Debate resumed. Question—put and passed.

9. Adjournment.—The President, under Sessional Order, put the Question—That the Senate do now adjourn. Question—resolved in the affirmative. The Senate adjourned at half-past ten p.m. till Tuesday next at three p.m.
10. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Cole, Codings, Lamp, McLeay and Tangney.
