1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate m et a t eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The President (Senator the Honorable Gordon Brown) took the Chair.

4. Suspension of Standing Order No. 68.—The Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator O’Sullivan), pursuant to notice, moved—That Standing Order No. 68 be suspended up to and including Thursday, 15th June, 1950, to enable new Business to be commenced after half-past ten o’clock at night. Question—put. The Senate divided—

5. Communist P arty Dissolution Bill 1950.—The Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator O’Sullivan), according to Order, moved—T hat the Bill be now read a second time. On the motion of Senator McKenna the debate was adjourned. Ordered—T hat the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
6. Commonwealth Bank Bill 1950.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question— That the pill be now read a second time. Debate resumed. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into Committee for the consideration of the Bill.
In the Committee.
Clauses 1 to 3 agreed to. On the motion of the Attorney-General (Senator Spicer) clauses 4, 5 and 6 were postponed. â Clause 7 debated— 'To report progress and ask leave to sit again.
The President resumed the Chair ; and the Chairman of Committees (Senator Nicholls) reported th at the Committee had considered the Bill and had made progress, and asked leave to sit again. Ordered—That the Committee have leave to sit again at a later hour of the day.

7. R egulations and Ordinances Committee—Seventh R eport.—Senator Tate, pursuant to noticer moved—That the Seventh Report from the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances, presented to the Senate on 26th October, 1949, be adopted. On the motion of Senator McKenna the debate was adjourned. Ordered—That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
8. Days of Meeting.—Senator Ashley, pursuant to notice, moved—That the days of meeting of the· Senate, unless otherwise ordered, be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week ; and th at the hour of meeting, unless otherwise ordered, be Three o’clock in the afternoon of Tuesday and Wednesday, and Eleven o’clock in the forenoon of Thursday. 9. Adjournment of Senate.—Senator Ashley, pursuant to notice, moved—That, during the prcsent- Session, unless otherwise ordered, at 10.30 p.m. on days upon which proceedings of the Senate are- not being broadcast, and at 11 p.m. on days when such proceedings are being broadcast, the President shall put the Question—That the Senate do now adjourn, which Question shall be open to debate
if the Senate be in Committee a t th at hour, the Chairman shall in like manner put the Question— That he do leave the Chair and report to the Senate ; and upon such report being made the President shall forthwith put the Question—That the Senate do now adjourn, which Question shall be open to debate : Provided th at if the Senate or the Committee be in division at the time named, the-
President or the Chairman shall not put the Question referred to until the result of such division has been declared ; and if the business under discussion shall not have been disposed of at such adjournment it shall appear on the Notice Paper for the next sitting day. Question—put and passed.
