1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.—The President (Senator the Honorable Gordon Brown) took the Chair.

2. PRAYERS.

3. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.

4. P apers.—The following Papers were presented, pursuant to Statute— Commonwealth Public Service Act—Appointment—Department of the Treasury—W. E. Sheehan. Lands Acquisition Act—Land acquired for Postal purposes—Collaroy Beach, New South Wales.

5. R uling of P resident : Objection to.—Order of the Day read for the consideration of the following motion moved by Senator Wright, viz.—That the Ruling of Mr. President—to the effect that the reading of an extract from a report of House of Commons proceedings as part of a question without notice is not in order—he dissented from. Debate resumed. Question—put and negatived.

6. Commonwealth Bank Bill 1950.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question— That the Bill be now read a second time. Senator O’Byrne moved—That the debate be now adjourned. '
