1. Meetin g of Se n a t e.—The Senate met· at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.

3. Mi m s t e b i a i . Statkment —Aleied Works Council .—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, made a Statement describing the scope and magnitude of the undertakings of the Allied Works Council, and dealing with certain allegations made against the Council. Senator McLeay, by leave, also made a Statement concerning the matter, and Senator Codings, by leave,

made a further Statement.

4. P a p e r.—The following Paper was presented, pursuant to Statute— Tariff Board Act—Tariif Board—Annual Report for the year 1941-42, together with summary of recommendations. Ordered—That the Report be printed.

5. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.

6. E stimates and Budget-P apers 1942 -43.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion by the Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator Keane), viz.—That the Papers be printed. Debate resumed. Ordered—That the debate be adjourned till the next day of sitting, and that Senator Arnold have leave

to continue his speech on the resumption of the debate.

7. P a p er s.—The following Paper was presented, by command of His Excellency the Governor-General— National Security Act -National Security (Emergency Control) Regulations—Notice—Powers of military authorities during emergency. The following Paper wras presented, pursuant to Statute—

National Security Act—National Security (Capital Issues) Regulations—Order—Exemption.

S. Ad jo u r n m e n t .—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings) moved—That, the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. And it being four o'clock, p.m.—The President , under Sessional Order, put the Question—That the Senate

do now adjourn— Question—resolved in the affirmative. The Senate thereupon adjourned till Wednesday next at three p.m.
