JOURNALS OF THE SENATE.
THURSDAY, 10th SEPTEMBER, 1942.
1. Meeting ok Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS. 3. Death of Senator E. B. J ohnston.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, moved—That the Senate expresses its profound regret at the death of Senator Edward Bertram Johnston, a representative of the State of Western Australia and formerly a member of the
Western Australian Parliament, places on record its appreciation of his meritorious public service and tenders its sincere sympathy to his widow and children in their bereavement. And the motion having been seconded by the Leader of the Opposition (Senator McLeay), and supported by Senators Cooper and Allan MacDonald— And all Senators present having risen, in silence— Question—passed.
4. Adjournment as Mark of R espect.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings) moved—That, as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased, the Senate do now adjourn. Question—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at seven minutes past three p.m. till to-morrow at eleven a.m.
6. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Arnold, Gibson, McBride, and Wilson.
