1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., in accordance with the terms of the Resolution of the Senate passed on 17th December, 1941.

3. Governor-General's Message—Assent to Bills.—The following Message from His Excellency the Governor-General was presented, and the same was read by the President:— GOWRIE, Governor-General. Message No.' 20.

4. Ministerial Statement—Assistance to Minister for the Army.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, informed the Senate that Senator the Hon. J. M. Fraser, in addition to his duties as Minister for External Territories and Minister assisting the Minister for Commerce, would assist the Minister for the Army. Senator Fraser would also represent the Minister for the Army in the Senate.

J oint Meeting of Members of the Senate and of the H ouse of R epresentatives—Secrecy of P roceedings.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, moved—That a joint meeting of Members of the Senate and of the House of Representatives be convened for the purpose of discussing in secret the present war and hearing confidential reports in relation thereto. Question—put and passed.

8. Next Meeting of the Senate.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings) moved—That the Senate, at its rising, adjourn till to-morrow at eleven a.m. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed.

9. Adjournment.—The Senate adjourned at ten minutes past three p.m. till to-morrow at eleven a.m.
