1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at. three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS.
3. R egulations and Ordinances Committee.—The President reported the receipt of a letter from Senator Cameron requesting his discharge from further attendance on the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances. The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, moved—That Senator Cameron be discharged
from further attendance on the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances. Question—put and passed. The President further reported the receipt: of a letter from the Leader of the Government in the Senate, nominating, in accordance with Standing Order No. 36a, Senator Large to fill the vacancy now
existing on the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances. Senator Codings, by leave, moved—That Senator Large, having been duly nominated in accordance with Standing Order No. 36a, be appointed to fill the vacancy now existing on the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances.
Question—put and passed.
4. L ibrary Committee.—The President reported the receipt of a letter from Senator Codings requesting his discharge from further attendance on the Library Committee. The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings), by leave, moved—That Senator Codings be discharged from further attendance on the Library Committee, and that Senator Armstrong be appointed to
fid the vacancy on the Committee. Question—put and passed.
5. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.
0. Sales Tax (Exemptions and Classifications) Bill 1941.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question—That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate resumed. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time.

17. Sales T ax and P rice Control—Ministerial Statement.—The Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator Keane), by leave, made a Statement relating to the methods adopted by the Commonwealth Prices Commissioner for checking increases in prices made by retailers on account of increased Sales Tax, &c. .
18. Suspension of Standing Order No. 134.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Col lings) moved—That so much of Standing Order No. 134 be suspended as would prevent the moving of a motion, at once, for the rescission of the Orders made by the Senate this day in connexion with the date fixed for the resumption of the debate on the second reading of the following Bills :—
