JOURNALS OF THE SENATE.

THURSDAY, 13th NOVEMBER, 1941.

1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.

2. PRAYERS.

3. P apers.—The following Papers were presented, pursuant to Statute— Lands Acquisition Act—Land acquired at— Albany, Western Australia—For Defence purposes. Broken Hill, New South Wales—For Defence purposes.

Port Pirie, South Australia—For Defence purposes (2). Wolseley, South Australia—For Defence purposes.

4. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.

5. E stimates and B udget P apers 1941-42 (Revised).—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion by the Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator Keane), viz.—That the Papers be printed. Debate resumed. Ordered—That the debate be adjourned till the next day of sitting, and that Senator Aylett have

leave to continue his speech on the resumption of the debate. .

6. Next Meeting of the Senate.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Ceilings) moved—That the Senate, at its rising, adjourn till Wednesday next at three p.m. Question—put and passed.

7. Adjournment.—The Minister for the Interior (Senator Codings) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at fifteen minutes past six p.m. till Wednesday next at three p.m.

8. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Lamp (on leave), McBride, Uppill (on leave), and Wilson (on leave).
