1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at half-past two p.m., pursuant to adjournment.

3. Leave of Absence.—Senator Uppill, by leave, moved—That leave of absence for one month be granted to Senator Allan MacDonald on account of ill-health. Question—put and passed.

4. Death of Viscount Stonehaven.—The Minister for Supply and-Development (Senator McLeay), by leave, moved—That the Senate records its profound regret at the death of the Right Honorable Viscount Stonehaven, P.C., G.C.M.G., a former Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and expresses its deep sympathy with Viscountess Stonehaven and family in their bereavement. And the motion having been seconded by the Leader of the Opposition (Senator Ceilings), and

supported by Senator Gibson— And all Senators present having risen, in silence— Question—passed. .

7. I nternational Affairs : P roposed Visit of P rime Minister to London—Ministerial. Statement.—The Minister for Supply and Development (Senator McLcay), by leave, made a statement concerning recent international developments, and the proposal that the Prime Minister should visit London, and laid on the Table the following Paper, viz.

By Command— International Affairs : Proposed visit of Prime Minister to London- -Ministerial Statement— and moved—That the Paper be printed. Debate ensued. On the motion of Senator James McLachlan the debate was adjourned. Ordered—That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.

8. Adjournment.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Collett) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at twenty minutes to ten p.m. till to-morrow at eleven a .in.
