JOURNALS No. 27. OF THE SENATE.

FRIDAY, 4th JULY, 1941.

1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at five minutes past twelve, a.m., pursuant to adjournment.

2. PRAYERS.

3. P apeb.—The following Paper was presented, pursuant to S ta tu te -Lands Acquisition Act—Land acquired at Elizabeth Bay, New South Wales—For Defence purposes.

4. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.

δ. L eave of Absence to all Senators during Adjournment.—The Minister for Supply and Development (Senator McLeay), by leave, moved—That leave of absence be granted to every Member of the Senate from the determination of the sitting this day to the day on which the Senate next meets. $

Question—put and passed.

6. Next Meeting of the Senate.—The Minister for Supply and Development (Senator McLeay) moved— That the Senate, at its rising, adjourn till a day and hour to be fixed by the President, which time of meeting shall be notified to each Senator by telegram or letter. .

Question—put and passed.

7. Adjournment.—The Minister for Supply and Development (Senator McLeay) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at nine minutes past one a.m. till a day and hour to be fixed by the President,

which time of meeting shall be notified to each Senator by telegram or letter.

8. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Armstrong, Arnold, Arthur, Ashley, Brand, Cameron, Courtice, Crawford, Darcey, Fraser, Herbert Hays, Keane, Lamp, Large, Allan MacDonald, A. J. McLachlan, James McLachlan, Spicer, and Wilson.
