JOURNALS OF THE SENATE.
THURSDAY, 13th MARCH, 1941.
1. Meeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS.
3. The L ate H on. H enry Gregory.—The President informed the Senate that he had received from the relatives of the late Honorable Henry Gregory a letter of thanks and appreciation for the resolution of sympathy and condolence passed by the Senate.
4. The Late Dr. W. R. N. Maloney.—The President informed the Senate that he had received from Mrs. G. Carter a letter of thanks and appreciation for the resolution of sympathy and condolence passed by the S6nate on the occasion of the death of Dr. W. R. N. Maloney.
5. P apers.—The following Papers were presented, pursuant to Statute— Arbitration (Public Service) Act—Determinations by the Arbitrator, &c.— No. 3 of 1941—Commonwealth Public Service Clerical Association. No. 4 of 1941—Professional Radio Employees’ Institute of Australasia. Commonwealth Public Service Act—Appointment—Department of the Interior—Î. B. Cox·. Customs Act—Proclamation prohibiting the exportation (except under certain conditions) of—
Dried Tree Fruits, viz.—apricots, nectarines, peaches, pears, prunes (dated 28th February, 1941). Raw Cotton Bounty Act—Regulations—Statutory Rules 1941, No. 32. .
6. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.
7. Next Meeting of the Senate.—The Postmaster-General (Senator McLeay) moved—That the Senate, at its rising, adjourn till Wednesday next at three p.m. Question—put and passed.
8. Adjournment.—The Postmaster-General (Senator McLeay) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at eleven minutes to four p.m. till Wednesday next at three p.m.
9. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Crawford, Grant, and Wilson.
