1. Meeting of S enate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS.
3. Questions.—Questions on notice were answered.
4. W ar Service H omes Bill.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator E. D. Millen), pursuant to leave granted on the 18th August, 1920, brought up a Bill for an Act to amend the War Service Homes Act 1918-1919. Bill read a first time.
5. S uspension of Standing Order N o. 192.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator E. D. Millen) moved—That Standing Order No. 192 be suspended, so as to enable the second reading of the War Service Homes Bill to be taken forthwith. Question—put and passed, there being an absolute majority of the whole number of Senators present,
and no dissentient voice.
6. W ar S ervice H omes B ill.ยท—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator E. D. Millen) moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. On motion of Senator Gardiner, the debate was adjourned. (h'dered—That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for Wednesday next.
7. I nstitute of Science and I ndustry B ill.—Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Bill, as reported. The Vice-President of the Executive Council (Senator Russell) moved—That the Report be adopted. Question—put and passed. Ordered—That the third reading of the Bill be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
8. I ndustrial P eace Bill.—The Vice-President of the Executive Council (Senator Russell), according to Order, moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. On motion of Senator J. D. Millen, the debate was adjourned. Ordered—That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
9. N ationality Bill.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question—That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate resumed. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee for the consideration of the Bill.

Clauses 1-5 agreed to. Clause 6 debated and agreed to. Clauses 7-13 agreed to. Clause 14 debated and agreed to. Clause 15 agreed to.
Clause 16 debated and agreed to. Clauses 17-24 agreed to. Clause 25 debated and agreed to. Clauses 26-35 agreed to. The First Schedule agreed to. The Second Schedule debated and agreed to. The Third Schedule agreed to. Title agreed to. Bill to be reported without amendment.
The President resumed the Chair; and Senator Bakhap, from the Committee, reported accordingly. Whereupon the Senate adopted such Report. Ordered—That the third reading of the Bill be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting. F.251

10. Audit Bill.—The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee for the further consideration of the Bill.
In the Committee.
Cousideiation resumed of clause 3 and the amendment moved, viz., leave out the clause. Clause 3 negatived. Clauses 4 and 5 negatived. Clauses 6-14 agreed to. Title agreed to.
Bill to be reported with amendments.
The President resumed the Chair ; and Senator Bakhap, from the Committee, reported accordingly. Ordered—That the Bill, as reported, be considered to-morrow.
11. Pa pur.—The Minister for Repatriat ion (Senator E. D. Millen) laid on the Table the following Paper, viz. :— Pursuant to Statute— Public Service Act.—Appointments of L. R. Sundercombe and W. MacGowan, Department
of Trade and Customs.

Adjournment.—The Senate adjourned at twenty-six minutes to six p.m. till to-morrow at eleven a.m.
