JOURNALS OF THE SENATE.

FRIDAY, 14th MAY, 1920.

1. M eetin g ok S enate.— T he S en ate m et a t eleven a.m ., pursuant, to ad jo u rn m en t.

2. PRAYERS.

3. Q uestions.—Questions on notice were answered.

4. A u d it B il l.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Milieu), according to Order, moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee for the consideration of the Bill.

In the Committee.

Clause 1 agreed to. To report progress and ask leave to sit again.

The President resumed the Chair ; and Senator Shannon, from the Committee, reported that the Committee had considered the Bill and had made progress, and asked leave to sit again. Ordered—That the Committee have leave to sit again on the next day of sitting.

5. N avigation B il l.— Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question—That the Bill be now read a second time. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee for the consideration of the Bill.

In the Committee

Clause 1 agreed to. Clause 2 debated and agreed to. Clauses 3 and 4 agreed to. Clause 5 debated and agreed to.

Clauses 6-95 agreed to. Clause 96 debated and agreed to. Clauses 97-129 agreed to. Title agreed to. Bill to be reported without amendment.

The President resumed the Chair ; and Senator Shannon, from the Committee, reported accordingly. Whereupon the Senate adopted such Report. Ordered—That the third reading of the Bill be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.

6. A djo urnm ent.— The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Milieu) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed.

The Senate adjourned at seven minutes past twelve noon till Wednesday next at three p.m.
