1. M eeting of S enate.— The Senate met at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS.
3. Question.— Question on notice answered.
4. A liens R egistration B ill.—Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Bill, as reported. The Vice-President of the Executive Council (Senator Russell) moved—That the Report be adopted. Question—put and passed. Ordered—That the third reading of the Bill be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
5. I nvalid and Old-age P ensions A ppropriation B ill.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Millen), according to Order, moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate ensued. Question—put and passed. Bill read a second time. The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee for the consideration of the Bill.
In the Committee.
Clause 1 agreed to. Clause 2 debated and agreed to. Preamble agreed to. Title agreed to. Bill to be reported without amendment.
The President resumed the Chair : and Senator Shannon, from the Committee, reported accordingly. Whereupon the Senate adopted such Report. Ordered—That the third reading of the Bill be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
6. W ar P ensions A ppropriation B ill.— The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Millen), according to Order, moved—That the Bill be now read a second time. Question—put and passed. The House of Representatives transmits to the Senate a Bill intituled “ A Bill for an Act to appropriate a further sum out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the service of the year ended the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and eighteen,” with which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.
