JOURNALS OF THE SENATE.
FRIDAY, 26 th SEPTEMBER, 1919.
1. M eeting of Senate.—The Senate met at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.
2. PRAYERS.
3. L eave of Absence.—The Minister fpr Repatriation (Senator Millen), pursuant to notice, moved— That leave of absence for two months be granted to Senator Pearce, absent on account of urgent public business. Question—put and passed.
4. P ostponements.—Ordered—That Private Business, Orders of the Day Nos. 1 and 2, be postponed until Thursday next.
δ. P eace Treaty with Germany.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question— That this Senate approves of the Treaty of Peace between the Allied and Associated Powers and Germany signed at Versailles on the 28th June, 1919. Debate resumed.
At one p.m. the sitting of the Senate was suspended till half-past two p.m.
Debate, interrupted by the suspension of the sitting, resumed. ·
Ordered—That the debate be adjourned till the next day of sitting, and that Senator Lynch have leave to continue his speech on the resumption of the debate.
6. Message from the H ouse of R epresentatives.—T rade Marks B ill.—The following Message from the House of Representatives was received and read :— Mr. P r e s id e n t, · · Message No. 101.
The House of Representatives returns to the Senate the Bill intituled “ A Bill for an Act to amend the'' Trade Marks Act, 1905-1912,’ ” and acquaints the Senate that the House of Representatives has agreed to the Bill without amendment. W. E lliot J ohnson,
