1. M eeting of Senate.—The Senate met at three p.m., pursuant to adjournment.

2. PRAYERS.

3. P apers.—The Minister for Repatriation (Senator Millen) laid on the Table the following Papers, viz. :— ·

The Acting Minister for Defence (Senator Russell) laid on the Table the following Papers, viz. :— Pursuant to Statute— .

Naval Defence Act 1910-1918.—Regulations amended.—Statutory Rules 1919, No. 169— No. 190—No. 198. Shale Oil Bounty Act 1917.—Particulars of Bounty paid, (fee., Financial year 1918-19.

4. Q uestions.—Questions on notice were answered.

5. P ostponements—Ordered—-That Private Business, Notice of Motion No. 1, and Order of the Day No. 1, be Orders of the Day for Thursday, 28th instant.

6. Commercial A ctivities B ill.—Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question— That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate resumed. An extension of half-an-hour was granted to Senator Gardiner under Standing Order No. 407a, but

he did no't avail himself of the permission. Debate continued. "

An extension of half-an-hour was granted to Senator Pratten under Standing Order No. 407 a. Debate continued.

A t half-past six p.m. the sitting of the Senate was suspended till eight p.m.

Debate, interrupted by the suspension of the sitting, resumed. On motion of Senator dc Largie, the debate was adjourned. Ordered—That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for to-morrow.

7. A djournment. —The Acting Minister for Defence (Senator Russell) moved—That the Senate do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-—put and passed. The Senate adjourned at ten p.m. till to-morrow at three p.m.

8. A ttendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Barker, Guy (on leave), Maughan, Pearce (on leave), Col. Rowell, and Senior.
