FRIDAY, 27th JUNE, 1919.

1. M eeting of Senate.—The Senate met at eleven a.m., pursuant to adjournment.

2. PRAYERS.

3. P ostponement.— Ordered—That Private Business, Notice of Motion No. 3, be postponed until Friday, 11th July next. ,

4. T rade Marks B ill.—The Acting Minister for Defence (Senator Russell), pursuant to leave granted on the 26th June, 1919, brought up a Bill for an Act to amend the “ Trade Marks Act 1905-1912.” Bill read a first time, and second reading made an Order1 of the Day for the next day of sitting.

. 5. Ministerial Statement : Statement r e Official B usiness and P roposed Work for the Session.—Order of the Day read for the resumption of the debate on the Question—That the Paper be printed. ‘

Debate resumed.

A t one p.m. the sitting of .the Senate was suspended till half-past two p.m.

Debate, interrupted by the suspension of the sitting, resumed. ·

6. A djournment.—I t being four o’clock p.m., the President, under Sessional Order, put the Question— That the Senate do now adjourn. Question—put and passed.— The business under discussion to be placed on the Notice-paper for the next sitting day, and Senator

Grant to have the right to continue his speech on the resumption of the debate. The Senate adjourned at four p.m. till Wednesday next, at three p.m.

7. Attendance.—Present, all the Members except Senators Lieut.-Col. Bolton, Crawford, Ferricks, Foil, Gardiner, Guy (on leave), Pearce, and Thomas. ·
