WEDNESDAY, 29th MAY, 1901.

1. M eeting o f S enate.—The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

2. A ddress in R eply.—On the Order of the Day being read for the adjourned debate on the question— That the Address in Reply be agreed to, to which an amendment had been moved, viz.:— “ To add to the Question—1 but while fully concurring in the proposal for the gradual reduction and ultimate relinquishment of the Kanaka labour at present within the Commonwealth, are of opinion that the further importation of such labour should be at once prohibited.’ ” Debate resumed.

3. Suspension of Sitting.—At half-past six p.m. the sitting of the Senate was suspended.

4. R esumption of Sitting.—A t half-past seven p.m. the sitting of the Senate was resumed.

5. A ddress in R eply.—Debate, interrupted by the suspension of the sitting, resumed.

On the motion of Senator Dawson, the debate was adjourned till to-morrow, to take precedence of all other business.

6. N ext M eeting o f" S enate.—Ordered, That the Senate at its rising adjourn until half-past two p.m. to-morrow.

7. A djournment.—The Senate adjourned at half-past nine p.m. till to-morrow at half-past two p.m.
