20    Urgency motion Employment data—Jobs held by individuals on international student visas

The Acting Deputy President (Senator Reynolds) informed the Senate that, at 8.30 am today, six senators had each submitted a letter in accordance with standing order 75. The proposal to be submitted to the Senate was determined by lot.

As a result, the Acting Deputy President informed the Senate that Senator Georgiou had proposed that today he intended to move—That, in the opinion of the Senate, the following is a matter of urgency:

The Government, within a month, reports to the Senate on the number of jobs which would have been available to Australians but were taken by individuals on international student visas.

The proposal was supported by four senators.

Senator Georgiou moved the motion.

Debate ensued.

Question put and passed.
