PETITIONS

The following 5 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the senators indicated, were received:

 The President and Senator Scullion, 2 petitions similar in wording, from 4 and 845 petitioners, respectively, requesting that the Senate amend the Social Security and Veterans' Entitlements Amendment (Commonwealth Seniors Health Card) Bill 2009 to exclude already taxed superannuation monies from the taxable income threshold used to determine the eligibility for the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.

 Senator Ludlam, from 41 petitioners, requesting that the Senate oppose any legislation implementing an Internet filter and support educational programs in this area.

 Senator Polley, 2 petitions similar in wording, from 340 and 95 petitioners, requesting that the Senate take action so that legal abandonment of newborn babies is recognised and that `baby safe havens' are provided for.
