The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney): To move on the next day of sitting-That there be laid on the Table the documents referred to by Senators Giles and Zakharov in their speeches on the motion for the adjournment of the Senate on 4 December 1986, which documents were used by those Senators to call into question the conduct of other Senators but were not disclosed.

Senator Parer: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) deplores the actions of a few union leaders at the Invincible coal mine at Lithgow which has closed the mine and cost several hundred decent men their jobs and guaranteed their families a very bleak Christmas; and

(b) condemns the few union leaders who were unable or unwilling to recognise that the $20m spent on the Invincible coal mine by Austen and Butta to produce coal competitively could only succeed if outdated and restrictive work practices were removed.
