BROADCASTING AMENDMENT BILL 1986
TELEVISION LICENCE FEES AMENDMENT BILL 1986

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the Minister for Education (Senator Ryan)-That these Bills be now read a second time.

Senator Lewis moved an amendment, viz: Leave out all words after ""That'', insert:

""(a) these Bills be referred to a select committee for report, by 28 February 1987, on the provisions of the Bills and their implementation in the light of new broadcasting and technology developments and the Government's policy statements on ownership; and

""(b) the composition and powers of the select committee be determined by a subsequent resolution''.

Debate continued.
