BOUNTY (BOOKS) BILL 1986

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the Minister for Community Services (Senator Grimes)-That this Bill be now read a second time.

The Senate, according to Order, resolved itself into Committee for the consideration of the Bill.

On the motion of Senator Grimes the following amendments were, by leave, taken together and agreed to, viz:

Page 5, paragraph 4 (5) (a), line 17, before ""an amount'', insert ""except in the case of a price referred to in the definition of "publisher's paper costs' in sub-section (1)''.

Page 11, sub-clause 10 (4), line 41, leave out ""was commenced and''.

Page 27, after paragraph 33 (1) (g), insert the following new paragraph:

""(ga) a decision of the Comptroller for the purposes of sub-section 19 (4);''.

Senator Puplick moved an amendment, viz:

Page 19, sub-clause 19 (11), lines 5 to 11, leave out the sub-clause.

Debate ensued.

Question-That the words proposed to be left out be left out-put and negatived.

On the motion of Senator Puplick the following amendment was debated and agreed to, viz:

Page 22, sub-clause 25 (1), line 6, leave out ""at the time and place'', insert ""at a reasonable time and place''.

Senator Powell moved an amendment, viz:

Page 27, paragraph 33 (1) (g), lines 12 and 13, leave out ""(other than such a decision made under sub-section 19 (11))''.

Debate ensued.

Question-That the words proposed to be left out be left out-put and negatived.

Bill, as amended, agreed to.

Bill to be reported with amendments.

The Acting Deputy-President (Senator Elstob) resumed the Chair; and the Chairman of Committees (Senator Hamer) reported accordingly.

On the motion of Senator Grimes the Report from the Committee was adopted, and the Bill read a third time.
