Notices of Motion:

The Leader of the Government (Senator Button): To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate notes that Wednesday, 28 May 1986 marks the 25th Anniversary of the foundation of Amnesty International and records its continuing support for Amnesty's efforts in the promotion and protection of human rights.

Senator Messner: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) notes the chaotic state of Labor Government economic policy and the conflicts amongst Government Ministers and between the Ministers, Caucus and factional leaders, on future directions for Australia; and

(b) condemns the Prime Minister (Mr Hawke) for his proven failure in leadership of the nation.

Senator Reynolds: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate calls on the Queensland Government to resolve long-term discrimination against the more than 1000 Aborigines on State Aboriginal reserves and immediately introduce award rates of pay plus back pay due to these workers.

Senator Reid: To move 10 sitting days hence-That the Motor Traffic (Amendment) Ordinance 1986, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 3 of 1986 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

The Manager of Government Business (Senator Grimes): To move on the next day of sitting-That, unless otherwise ordered, Government Business take precedence of General Business on Thursdays for the remainder of the Autumn sittings.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances (Senator Cooney):

No. 1-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Extradition (Finland) Regulations (Amendment), as contained in Statutory Rules 1986 No. 32 and made under the Extradition (Foreign States) Act 1966, be disallowed.

No. 2-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Motor Traffic (Amendment) Ordinance 1986, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 3 of 1986 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

No. 3-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Rates (Amendment) Ordinance 1986, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 2 of 1986 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

No. 4-To move 11 sitting days after today-That Defence Determination No. 14 of 1986, made under section 58b of the Defence Act 1903, be disallowed.

Senator Cooney, by leave, made a statement relating thereto.

Intention to withdraw: Senator Cooney, pursuant to Standing Order 109a, gave notice of his intention, on the next day of sitting at giving of Notices, to withdraw Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1 standing in his name for 3 sitting days hence, for the disallowance of Defence Determination No. 8 of 1986.

Senator Cooney, by leave, made a statement relating thereto.
