NOTICES: Notice of Motion withdrawn

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances (Senator Coates), in accordance with notice of intention given on 27 May 1985, withdrew Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1 standing in his name, for the disallowance of certain words in the Australian Capital Territory Crimes (Amendment) Ordinance 1985.

Notice of Motion: Senator Lewis gave a Notice of Motion, as follows: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate notes the Government's commitment to impose self-government on the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) in 1986 without referendum and condemns the Government for allowing a number of Ministers to ''lock-in'' a future self-government to their particular philosophies, by restructuring of authorities and making long-term appointments, and in particular condemns- (a) the Minister for Health in relation to the Capital Territory Health Commission;

(b) the Minister for Education in relation to the ACT Schools Authority;

(c) the Minister for Territories in relation to the National Capital Development Commission; and

(d) the Government for its failure to consolidate all administrative functions under one Minister as a first step towards self-government.
