ADVISORY COUNCIL ON AUSTRALIAN ARCHIVES AND NATIONAL LIBRARY OF AUSTRALIA-SENATE MEMBERS OF COUNCILS

The Deputy-President (Senator Hamer) informed the Senate that the President had received letters from the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney) nominating Senators Reid and Hill to fill vacancies on certain statutory authorities, caused by the resignation from the Senate of Senator Martin.

The Manager of Government Business (Senator Grimes), by leave, moved- (1) That, in accordance with the provisions of the Archives Act 1983, the Senate choose Senator Reid to be a member of the Advisory Council on Australian Archives till 7 June 1987, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Senator Martin.

(2) That, in accordance with the provisions of the National Library Act 1960, the Senate elect Senator Hill to be a member of the Council of the National Library of Australia till 2 March 1987, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Senator Martin.
