ALLEGATIONS CONCERNING A JUDGE-SELECT COMMITTEE-EXTENSION OF TIME TO REPORT: Leave refused

The Chairman of the Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge (Senator Tate) sought leave to move a motion relating to an extension of time for the Select Committee to report.

Objection being raised, leave not granted.

Suspension of Standing Orders: The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney) moved-That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent Senator Tate moving a motion relating to an extension of time for the Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge to report.

Debate ensued.

Question-put and passed.

Senator Tate thereupon moved- (1) That the time for the Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge to report be extended.

(2) That the Committee report as soon as possible.

Debate ensued.
