The Leader of the Government (Senator Button), by leave, gave a Notice of Motion, as follows: To move on the next day of sitting-That, unless otherwise ordered, and notwithstanding anything contained in the Standing Orders- (1) (a) The Senate meet on Friday, 2 December 1983, Friday, 9 December 1983 and Friday, 16 December 1983, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4.15 p.m.

(b) On each Friday Questions take place at 12 noon.

(c) The hours of meeting of the Senate on Tuesday, 29 November 1983, Tuesday, 6 December 1983 and Tuesday, 13 December 1983, be 2 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.

(d) The Sessional Order relating to the adjournment of the Senate have effect at the terminating time on those days.

(2) Government Business take precedence of General Business on Thursday, 8 December 1983 and Thursday, 15 December 1983. The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney), by leave, made a statement relating thereto.

And it being 12 noon, pursuant to Order, Questions without Notice were called on.
