Notices of Motion were given, as follows- Senator Maguire, at the request of Senator Georges: To move on the next day of sitting- That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent such Senators as are members of the Joint Statutory Committee of Public Accounts attending meetings of the Committee during sittings of the Senate on Wednesday, 12 October and Wednesday, 19 October 1983.

Senator Boswell: To move on the next day of sitting-

That the Senate notes- (a) the dramatic development that has occurred in Queensland, in a manner that has attracted people from all over Australia to that State;

(b) the international reputation which has been developed, so that Expo '88 will be held in that State; and

(c) that, despite this progress and this new generation development and sophistication, standards have been retained which cherish a true regard for the family and other enduring aspects of Australian life which are threatened by the policies of the Australian Labor Party.
