The Leader of the Government (Senator Button), pursuant to Notice of Motion not objected to as a Formal Motion, moved- (1) That, unless otherwise ordered, the hours of meeting of the Senate on Tuesday, 31 May 1983, be 1.45 p.m. to 6.30 p.m . and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Thursday, 2 June 1983 be 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

(2) That the Sessional Order relating to the adjournment of the Senate have effect at 10 p.m. on these days.

(3) That, unless otherwise ordered, Government Business take precedence of General Business after 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 2 June 1983.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney), the Leader of the Australian Democrats (Senator Chipp) and Senators Robertson and Harradine, by leave, made statements relating thereto.
