AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY-JOINT COMMITTEE-REPORT ON RETAIL TRADING HOURS IN THE A.C.T

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of Senator Reid- That the Senate take note of the Report-And on the amendment moved thereto by Senator Colston, viz: At end of motion, add '', but the Senate agrees with the views and the conclusions expressed in the Dissenting Report by Mrs R. J. Kelly, M.P., Mr K. L. Fry, M.P. and Senator Colston''.

Debate resumed.

Senator Colston, by leave, amended his amendment to read as follows: At end of motion, add '', but the Senate agrees with the views and the conclusions expressed in the Dissenting Report by Mrs R. J. Kelly, M.P., Mr K. L. Fry, M.P. and Senator Colston, and that the President forward a copy of this Resolution to the Speaker of the Australian Capital Territory House of Assembly''.

Senator Reid moved an amendment to the proposed amendment, viz: Leave out all words after ''Senate'', insert ''is of the opinion that it would be premature for the Senate to determine an attitude to the Report of the Committee before the Canberra community has had the opportunity to consider the Report in detail and before the Government has had an opportunity to respond to the Report''.
