Notices of Motion were given, as follows-

Senator Lewis: That, twelve sitting days after today, he would move-That the Building (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 2) 1982, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 70 of 1982 and made under the Seat of Government ( Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

Senator Lewis, by leave, made a statement.

Senator Mason: That, on the next day of sitting, he would move-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to give effect to the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Senator Bolkus: That, on the next day of sitting, he would move-That the Senate: (a) notes with concern the address of the Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs to the National Language Conference on Friday, 22 October 1982, which has alienated the majority of ethnic communities;

(b) condemns the Minister for his lack of understanding of the implications and value of a national language policy;

(c) condemns the Minister's refusal to seriously discuss the need for a national language policy; and

(d) totally rejects the Minister's assimilationist statements which contradict the goal of a multicultural society.
