The Deputy-President (Senator McClelland) informed the Senate that the President had received letters from the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and the Acting Leader of the Australian Democrats asking that certain Senators be discharged from attendance on certain Committees and nominating Senators to serve on Committees.

The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs (Senator Baume), by leave, moved--

(1) That the following Senators be discharged from further attendance on the Committees indicated:

Education and the Arts--Senator Colston

Trade and Commerce--Senator Walsh

Regulations and Ordinances--Senator Colston

(2) That the following Senators, having been duly nominated in accordance with Standing Order 36AA, be appointed members of the Committees indicated:

Education and the Arts--Senator Giles

Trade and Commerce--Senator Siddons

Question--put and passed.
