DEATH OF THE HONOURABLE REGINALD THOMAS POLLARD

The Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Carrick) referred to the death, on 24 August 1981, of the Honourable Reginald Thomas Pollard, a former Member of the House of Representatives and Minister for Commerce and Agriculture and, by leave, moved--That the Senate expresses its deep regret at the death, on 24 August 1981, of the Honourable Reginald Thomas Pollard, a former Member of the House of Representatives for the Divisions of Ballaarat from 1937 to 1949 and Lalor from 1949 to 1966, and former Minister for Commerce and Agriculture from 1946 to 1949, places on record its appreciation of his long and meritorious public service and tenders its profound sympathy to his family in their bereavement.

And the motion having been seconded by the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Button), and supported by the Leader of the Australian Democrats (Senator Chipp) and Senators Gietzelt and McClelland--

And all Senators present having stood, in silence--
