Senator DASTYARI (New South WalesDeputy Opposition Whip in the Senate) (17:33): I'm going to be very, very brief. I think it's no secret that I'm not a supporter of these amendments being moved by Senator Paterson and Senator Fawcett. But I do want to put on the record that I believe they are amendments that were put in good spirit and good faith, and I think some of the post-plebiscite commentary around some of these amendments has been quite unjust and quite unfair. I think it's very reasonable for us to be able to have these kinds of debates about where you draw the line on religious protection, and that good people are able to disagree on these matters.
