Mr COWAN —I ask the Minister for Transport: Is it a fact that I have made representations to him concerning main road 518 at Medowie? Did the Minister and I inspect the road and also meet the Medowie Progress Association and representatives of the Port Stephens Shire Council? Is that road in very great need of reconstruction and surfacing? Does it also serve the port of Newcastle, the chip industry of the north coast, the Royal Australian Air Force Williamtown air base and also the local community?

Mr SPEAKER —Order! The honourable member should get to his question.

Mr COWAN —If the New South Wales Government is prepared to give it a No. 1 priority under the Australian bicentennial road development program, is the Minister prepared to approve finance for that road?

Mr PETER MORRIS —The answers to the questions are: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes. In respect of the last question, I would be prepared to give it early consideration if it is brought forward by the New South Wales Government.
