Mr PEACOCK —In contrast to our attitude to the Government's handling of matters regarding the Association of South East Asian Nations, I say in prefacing this question to the Prime Minister that I endorse wholeheartedly the Foreign Minister's statement, the notice of motion given by the honourable member for Grayndler and the Prime Minister's statement today. He has our full support in this regard. As he has referred to the endeavours with which Australia has been associated in the United Nations since 1974 and has indicated in his last answer that the Government would be prepared to support international measures, I would be pleased if he would indicate whether he will take the initiative at the opportunity which will be before him next weekend at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, Cyprus being a matter of great concern to the Commonwealth, to see what can be pursued next week at Commonwealth level.

Mr HAWKE —I am pleased to be able to answer briefly, constructively and positively this question from the Leader of the Opposition. I thank him for the indication of bipartisan support for the position that we have adopted. I undertake to take up this matter at the CHOGM meeting in Delhi.
