Mr HAWKE (Prime Minister) —I inform the House that the Minister for Sport, Recreation and Tourism, Minister for Administrative Services and Minister Assisting the Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr John Brown) left Australia on 12 November to resume leadership of a parliamentary delegation and to hold discussions in London, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Tokyo. The Minister for Home Affairs and Environment (Mr Cohen) is Acting Minister for Sport, Recreation and Tourism and the Minister for Communications (Mr Duffy) is Acting Minister for Administrative Services and Acting Minister Assisting the Minister for Industry and Commerce until Mr Brown returns.

I also inform the House that the Minister for Science and Technology (Mr Barry Jones) left Australia on 11 November--

Opposition members-Oh!

Mr HAWKE —I realise that will leave a void for many of us. He left to attend an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development conference in Japan and to hold discussions in Korea on high technology industries. We do not know what will come home in that right hand pocket after that. The Minister for Transport (Mr Peter Morris) is Acting Minister for Science and Technology until Mr Jones returns.
