Mr McGAURAN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That this House-

(1) recognises that the Australia flag is the most important symbol of our historical traditions and national pride and is a source of our unity for which many of the best of Australia's youth have fought and died;

(2) notes with the utmost concern the determination of a small group of people outside the mainstream of Australian public opinion to change the Australian flag;

(3) condemns those members of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party who have joined in the call to change the Australian flag, and

(4) calls upon the Government to give effect to the wishes of the overwhelming majority of Australians by indicating publicly its support for retaining the Australian flag.
