Mr Blanchard asked the Minister representing the Minister for Social Security, upon notice, on 7 September 1983:

Does the Department of Social Security contract work to sheltered workshops; if so, what work was given to these workshops in 1982-83.

Dr Blewett —The Minister for Social Security has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

Yes. In 1982-83 the following work was given to sheltered workshops:

(a) Industrial therapy units, Inala, Queensland; Supply of female work slacks; $675.00

(b) Holy Cross Laundry, Wooloowin, Queensland; laundering industrial clothes etc.; $215.50

(c) Paraquad Industries, Western Australia; Supply of furniture; $84,970.10

(d) Tadpac, Tasmania; printing; $553.30

(e) Royal Tasmanian Society for the Blind and Deaf, Tasmania; Supply of Braille 'Dymo' machine and Smiths Ringer Timer; $46.06

(f) Koomarri Industries, Canberra; Wrapping and addressing news-sheets; $13,200 .00 (estimated).
