Mr WELLS —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move, and the honourable member for Lilley (Mrs Darling) will second:

That this House-

(1) notes that-

(a) according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, foreign interests own 59.4 per cent and control 73.4 per cent of mining interests in Queensland;

(b) foreign interests own 70.2 per cent and control 81.8 per cent of mining processing in Queensland; and

(c) in the financial years 1980-1 to 1981-2, according to the report of the Foreign Investment Review Board 631,000 hectares of rural land in Queensland were alienated to foreign interests; and

(2) condemns the Queensland Government for the wholesale abandonment of the heritage of Australians.
